## Discover the Wonders of Geysir at Hotel Geysir
Immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Geysir with an unforgettable stay at the family-run Hotel Geysir. Nestled directly opposite the world-famous geothermal area, Hotel Geysir provides unparalleled access to a natural phenomenon so significant it lent its name to the English language – the very word “geyser” originates from this captivating location.
Imagine stepping outside your door and embarking on a leisurely stroll of less than five minutes to witness the awe-inspiring Geysir. Alternatively, a similarly short, five-minute walk in the opposite direction will lead you to Strokkur, another remarkable geyser that dramatically erupts every 6 to 10 minutes, creating a spectacle of nature’s power.
Beyond the immediate geothermal wonders, you’ll find a selection of delightful restaurants and convenient service areas within easy reach, whether you prefer to explore on foot or by car. Hotel Geysir serves as an ideal base for exploring the numerous natural attractions along the renowned Golden Circle route. The majestic Gullfoss waterfall, a cascade of immense beauty and power, awaits just a scenic 10-minute drive away. A slightly longer journey of approximately 50 minutes will bring you to the historically significant and geologically fascinating Þingvellir National Park. For those seeking urban experiences, Reykjavík, the vibrant capital city, is readily accessible with an hour and a half drive. And for convenient arrivals and departures, the international airport is situated just two hours away from the hotel.
Hotel Geysir itself is a study in understated elegance. Its design subtly integrates with the surrounding landscape, allowing it to harmonize with the natural environment. Step inside and discover a carefully curated blend of modern rooms and spacious suites, each thoughtfully designed with neutral tones and a Scandinavian-inspired minimalist aesthetic, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
Choose from Standard or Deluxe Rooms, both offering generous space for relaxation. Deluxe Rooms elevate the experience with the addition of a charming French balcony and a luxurious bathtub, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. For those seeking even more space and enhanced amenities, the hotel’s Suites provide a truly indulgent experience. The Geysir Suite stands as the most exclusive option, boasting a separate living room, a dedicated dining room, a large and lavish bathroom complete with a standalone bathtub, and a private balcony offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. To accommodate larger groups or families, select room options feature convenient sofa beds.
Beyond its prime location, Hotel Geysir distinguishes itself through a deep commitment to sustainability. The hotel proudly partners with local farmers and producers, ensuring that its cozy restaurant and rooftop bar and terrace are supplied with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The entire hotel operates on green and renewable energy, minimizing its environmental impact. Furthermore, all rooms are equipped with energy-saving technology, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are always eager to share information on ways you can actively contribute to a more environmentally friendly stay.

Wifi – Check On RequestIceland
Choosing the right time to visit Iceland depends on what you would like to see and do. To see the Northern Lights, visit in winter—and thus brave ultra-short days and brisk weather. If your goal is to hike, road trip, and otherwise explore outdoors, the best times are late spring and early fall. Summer months bring great weather and long days, but also attract big tourist crowds.
Where should I go in Iceland?
Iceland has much more to offer than the popular (and crowded) Golden Circle and South Coast areas. We highly recommend exploring Iceland’s remote regions such as Snaefellsnes Peninsula, the Westfjords, Lake Myvatn, and the East Fjords. See our recommended tours & itineraries to get ideas on how to plan your trip to Iceland.
How many days do I need?
You can have an epic Iceland experience when you spend at least 5 days. Shorter trips are possible but won’t give you enough time to explore beyond the Reykjavik area and the western section of the South Coast. With 8 days or more, you can complete the famous Ring Road and see sights that most tourists miss, like Godafoss Waterfall, the unique volcanic hotspots surrounding Lake Myvatn, and the Westfjords.
Getting around in Iceland
Most travelers drive themselves in Iceland during the summer season (Mid-April to November), and some opt for small group or guided tours during the winter season when weather, wind, and limited daylight can make driving more difficult. The Ring Road is Iceland's iconic multi-day road trip (typically 7-10 days), with many opportunities to extend further to more remote areas such as the highlands, the Westfjords, and northern coast.
