Fretheim Fjordhytter presents a charming cluster of four traditional wooden cabins, idyllically situated on the very edge of the breathtaking Aurlandsfjord in the picturesque village of Flåm. The location, steeped in history, was once a flourishing organic orchard. Now, it has been transformed into a tranquil retreat offering unparalleled views of both the fjord’s serene waters and the towering mountains that embrace it. The cabins boast an enviable location, being only a short and pleasant walk from the Flåm railway station, a major transport hub, as well as the bustling Flåm harbor. This proximity ensures easy access for travelers. Additionally, a variety of local amenities are conveniently close by, including a well-stocked grocery store for all your self-catering needs, a tempting bakery filled with freshly baked goods, and a selection of restaurants offering diverse culinary experiences.
Each cabin at Fretheim Fjordhytter is thoughtfully designed to comfortably accommodate up to six guests, providing ample space and privacy across its three well-appointed bedrooms. Upon entering, the ground floor of each cabin reveals a spacious open-plan lounge and kitchen area. This communal space is perfect for relaxing and socializing. A charming wood burner stove adds a touch of warmth and ambiance, especially during cooler evenings. A comfortable bedroom with a welcoming double bed is also located on the ground floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, including a dishwasher for easy cleanup and a coffee machine to ensure your daily caffeine fix. Ascending to the upper floor, you’ll discover two additional bedrooms. One features a double bed, while the other is furnished with two single beds, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. The cabins are meticulously designed with your comfort and convenience in mind, boasting a range of additional amenities such as a washing machine with a dryer, an iron for keeping your clothes crisp, and a delightful terrace complete with outdoor furniture and a grill. This outdoor space is perfect for enjoying al fresco meals and soaking in the stunning scenery.
To further enhance your experience, your stay at Fretheim Fjordhytter includes the use of a boat equipped with a small outboard motor. This allows you the freedom to explore the magnificent fjord at your own pace and discover hidden coves and breathtaking vistas. Where to go in Norway?
The go-to destinations for many travelers are Bergen, the charming villages along the world-famous Sognefjord like Aurland and Balestrand, and the scenic Lofoten Islands. How many days do I need?
Some visitors breeze through Norway in three days, and while you can quickly tour the country and get a feel for its natural scenery, we recommend planning a week or more to really take in all that it has to offer.

It's common to use multiple modes of transport when exploring Norway. The "best way" to go depends on the region you're in and how far you're going. Ferries are great for witnessing the powerful fjords, while many of the national parks lend themselves well to road trips—and if you're heading all the way to the Arctic Circle, domestic flights are usually the way to go.
