EcoCamp Patagonia, Torres del Paine Hotels
Eco-friendly and cozy camping-style domes in a complex with a bar and restaurant, yoga area, and massage tent
Overview
EcoCamp Patagonia prides itself on its commitment to eco-friendliness. The campsite itself comprises approximately 30 thoughtfully designed geodesic “domes.” These remarkable structures are ingeniously constructed with interconnecting lines rather than traditional curved surfaces, reminiscent of a giant, three-dimensional jungle gym. Standard dome options provide a comfortable bed for the night, with shared bathroom facilities available for all guests. Note that the standard domes are not equipped with heating. For a more luxurious experience, consider the Superior Suite Domes, which feature both heating and the added convenience of private bathrooms. For larger parties, the Suite Dome Loft offers ample space to comfortably accommodate groups of up to four individuals, and also includes a private terrace, providing an exceptional vantage point to soak in the stunning Patagonian scenery.
Regardless of the dome type you choose, you’ll find each one remarkably cozy and inviting. The interiors are thoughtfully decorated with natural and sustainable materials, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Large windows are strategically placed to bring the dramatic landscape directly to you, blurring the boundaries between inside and out. This immersive connection to nature is so profound that you may not even notice the absence of WiFi in this otherwise remote location.
EcoCamp Patagonia holds the distinction of being the very first hotel to embrace geodesic dome structures when it first opened its doors in 2001. Furthermore, it established itself as the first fully sustainable accommodation option south of the Amazon rainforest. This unwavering focus on environmental stewardship is deeply woven into the fabric of EcoCamp Patagonia. The domes are carefully integrated into the surrounding geography to minimize their impact on the environment, and sustainable products and technologies are utilized throughout the camp’s operations.
To further enhance the sense of community and connection among guests, EcoCamp Patagonia features several thoughtfully designed community domes. In the dining dome, you can enjoy an organic meal or sip a refreshing cocktail while engaging in conversation at a communal table. The wellness dome provides a tranquil space to participate in a rejuvenating yoga class, while the massage dome offers an opportunity to indulge in a soothing body treatment, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Chile is one of the most naturally and culturally diverse places in the world, stretching 2,500 miles across Andean peaks, dramatic coastline, and the otherworldly Atacama Desert. Along the way, you'll find award-winning wineries in the Colchagua Valley and the bohemian enclave of Valparaíso—not to mention Santiago de Chile, one of South America's most dynamic cities.
When is the best time to visit?
Visit during Chile's spring in September, October, or November to see the country come alive with color, or during their fall, which happens from March through May. Many attractions are closed during their winter season from July to August.
Where should I go in Chile?
Stargaze in the Southern Hemisphere's clearest skies, ski or snowboard in the Andes, explore the iconic statues of Easter Island, explore the colorful streets of Valparaíso, watch the sunset over the dunes of the Atacama Desert, and soak in the deeply azure fjords where the mountains drop dramatically straight to the water.
How many days do I need?
Travelers should really take their time and try not to rush through Chile. 10 days might even feel like too few, so if possible, at least 2 weeks is best.
Getting Around in Chile
Chile is nearly 3,000 miles long, and most travelers use a combination of domestic flights and road transfers to maximize their time in the country. Fly between regions using major transport hubs (like Santiago and Atacama, for example), and then drive within any region you'd like to explore
