Tapas, a beloved tradition in Spain, bring people together to enjoy shared bites of food and drinks while socializing on the streets. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you will traverse through Málaga’s charming and historic center, witnessing this lively custom in action and indulging in its delicious offerings that showcase Spain’s rich culinary heritage.
Highlights of this experience include leisurely strolling through the historic streets of Málaga with a local gourmet expert, exploring the renowned Atarazanas Market, which is hailed as one of the best markets globally, and visiting seven different foodie spots in the city center, including quaint local taverns. You will have the opportunity to sample at least 14 tapas and drinks, gaining insights into the gastronomic history and culture of the city and its surrounding region.
Before embarking on this culinary journey, it is important to note that the duration of the tour is 3.5 hours, making it an ideal activity for individuals of all ages. The group size is kept small, with a maximum of 10 participants to ensure an intimate and personalized experience. Additionally, lunch is included as part of the food and drink offerings provided during the tour.
The tour commences with a meet-up in the city center, where you will be introduced to your guide and briefed on the day’s itinerary. Your first stop will be at the bustling Atarazanas Market, where you can immerse yourself in a sensory feast of colors, flavors, and seasonal produce while engaging in conversations with local producers. Following this, you will visit a family-owned shop specializing in jamón (ham), where you will learn about the different varieties of this beloved Spanish delicacy, including the renowned Iberian Bellota ham sourced from acorn-fed pigs.
The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the tapas experience, akin to restaurant hopping, where you will sample a variety of traditional and innovative tapas dishes that showcase the diversity of Málaga’s culinary scene. One standout dish is the Pil-Pil Prawns Wrap from Uvedoble Taberna, a local favorite not to be missed. As you traverse through Málaga’s Old Town, your guide will regale you with stories about the city’s historical landmarks and architectural marvels, enhancing your appreciation for its charming and captivating atmosphere.
The tour runs daily at 11:00 am, with the exception of Sundays. Included in the experience are visits to seven foodie hot spots, a guided tour of Atarazanas Central Market, an Iberian ham tasting session, and over 14 tapas, bites, and drinks for a complete lunch experience. You will be part of a small group led by an enthusiastic English-speaking guide, ensuring a memorable and engaging exploration of Málaga’s culinary delights.
