Rioja Winemaking Workshop
Learn to make Riojan wine with a professional, participating in vineyard tasks, barrel tasting, fermentation, and bottling.
Immerse yourself in the world of winemaking with a unique workshop at a vineyard in Rioja. This hands-on experience allows you to learn the ins and outs of wine production while participating in tasks such as grape harvesting and vine pruning. Explore the cellar of a 16th-century family estate to witness the fermentation process and indulge in a traditional Riojan snack. A barrel-tasting session will give you insight into the aging process of wines, followed by the opportunity to bottle your own wine to take home as a memento of your day as a Riojan winemaker.
During this 3-hour experience, suitable for all ages, you will be guided by a professional winemaker who will share their expertise with you. Discover the traditions and techniques that have shaped Rioja’s wine industry for centuries as you stroll through the vineyard. Conduct experiments in the cellar to observe the fermentation process and gain a deeper understanding of wine aging.
The highlight of the workshop is the barrel tasting, where you can sample wine directly from the barrel and learn about the nuances between young and aged wines. Finally, under the guidance of your host, you will bottle your own wine, complete with cork and label, to take home with you.
Daily sessions start at 10:30 am, offering a convenient schedule for visitors to Rioja. The workshop includes guidance from a professional winemaker, participation in vineyard and fermentation tasks, a traditional Riojan appetizer, a barrel tasting experience, and the opportunity to bottle your own wine as a keepsake from your winemaking adventure.
