Reindeer Sledding & Lavvu Experience
This unique overnight excursion departs from the city of Tromsø and takes you to a Sami camp nestled in the untouched wilderness nearby. The Sami people, an indigenous group in northern Norway, have thrived in this Arctic Circle region for generations, embracing a simple and traditional way of life. A central aspect of their culture is reindeer herding, a practice deeply rooted in their heritage.
Upon arrival at the camp, guests will be accommodated in authentic Sami tents known as lavvus, reminiscent of North American teepees and capable of housing groups of up to eight individuals. The highlight of the trip is undoubtedly the exhilarating reindeer sled-ride across the snow-covered landscape—a truly unforgettable experience. As evening falls, indulge in a delicious home-cooked Sami dinner accompanied by steaming hot beverages. And don’t forget to gaze skyward at night, as the camp offers an ideal vantage point for witnessing the mesmerizing spectacle of the northern lights.
