What you’ll do
Your designated driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning for the journey to
Omalos Plateau, approximately an hour away from
Chania. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or breakfast before beginning your adventure in Samaria. Feel free to lead the hike at your own pace, with your knowledgeable guide close by to assist you throughout the journey. The initial part of the hike involves descending a rocky stairway, emphasizing the importance of wearing suitable hiking shoes or boots for a safe and comfortable experience. As you progress, you’ll cross the river via stepping stones, with restroom breaks and opportunities to refill your water bottle from natural springs along the way. Marvel at the magnificent scenery and stay hydrated as you navigate through towering cliffs and wooden bridges towards the end of the trail.
The gorge concludes at the charming village of Agia Roumeli, where your guide will provide you with ferry tickets at the designated meeting point. Take the time to relax and unwind while waiting for the ferry, perhaps with a leisurely swim at the beach or a meal at one of the local tavernas.
