This exclusive Santorini experience is tailored for individuals who appreciate fine cuisine and wine. The day begins with a scenic drive through the countryside to visit two charming wineries. Take a leisurely stroll through the vineyards to discover the island’s unique grape varieties and volcanic soil, and indulge in a tasting of eight different wines under the guidance of a knowledgeable expert. As lunchtime approaches, you will be whisked away to a renowned wine estate with a cellar-door restaurant. Here, you will join a skilled local chef for a hands-on cooking class, where you will learn to prepare traditional Santorini dishes before enjoying a relaxed meal paired with more delightful wines.
Highlights of this experience include exploring two traditional wineries to learn about Santorini’s distinctive viticulture, sampling a variety of wines including the famous assyrtiko white, mastering the art of cooking Santorini signature dishes with an expert chef, and ending the day with a leisurely lunch complemented by wines from the estate.
Before embarking on this culinary adventure, here are a few things to keep in mind: the duration of the experience is approximately 6 hours, suitable for all ages, and is a private group setting.
Your morning will kick off with a pick-up from your hotel, where you will meet your driver and expert guide before embarking on a deluxe air-conditioned van to explore the scenic countryside of Santorini. At the two family-run wineries, you will gain insight into the island’s unique viticulture practices and its volcanic terroir. Taste a selection of eight different wines, ranging from dry whites like nykteri to sweet dessert wines like vinsanto, all while your guide educates you on each wine’s distinct characteristics. You can even purchase your favorite bottles to take home. After the wine tastings, you will transition to a boutique winery with an award-winning restaurant, where you will learn how to prepare signature Santorini dishes with a local chef.
Prepare traditional dishes such as tomato fritters and Greek salad, using unique ingredients like white eggplants, cucumbers, and chlorotyri cheese. This interactive experience can accommodate dietary preferences, including vegetarian options. Conclude the cooking session with a full lunch featuring the dishes you helped create, paired perfectly with wines produced on the estate. Before you depart, you will receive a recipe card filled with Santorini specialties to recreate the experience at home.
The experience is available daily at 9:30 am, except on Sundays when it is not offered.
