Duration: 3 hours
Recommended for: All ages
Group: Group tour, 20 people or less
Food & Drink: All-you-can-eat prawn buffet with butter, lemon, dill, mayonnaise, fresh bread
After arriving early to snag your seat, you’ll set sail to cruise the innermost section of the Oslofjord, navigating the narrow inlets and sheltered bays, like Huk. You’ll pass a number of Oslo’s low-lying islands that make up an archipelago of 40, like Hovedøya (the closest island to the city) and Lindøya, where your crew will share insights, including what they’re referred to as by the locals. Coming up to Oslo’s Bygdøy peninsula, you’ll spot the Maritime Museum at the water’s edge with its recognizable veteran sailing ship moored outside and the impressive Fram Museum, housing the famed polar ship of the same name.
Throughout the experience, you’ll have the chance to savor a buffet featuring Norwegian-style prawns complemented by bread, butter, lemon, dill, and mayonnaise. While this spread is a highlight for many, some (generally non-European) travelers may find the process of eating whole prawns a bit daunting, so it’s good to come prepared with an open mind. The ship also offers a bar stocked with hot and cold drinks. As evening falls, you’ll be treated to the pretty sight of Oslo’s harbor lights twinkling against the backdrop of the fjord, particularly memorable if you happen to catch a clear sunset!
To ensure the best experience, plan to arrive a little before 6:30 pm to secure prime seating along the sides of the boat.
