Immerse yourself in their way of life with a village walk that showcases traditional burial practices, ancient palenque construction, and the use of cocoa in agriculture. Explore a forest path to learn about medicinal plants, try your hand at archery, and participate in cultural demonstrations like crafting clothes from tree bark. This experience is perfect for those interested in Indigenous cultures and culminates with a delicious Costa Rican lunch infused with Maleku flavors.
Highlights of the tour include visiting three “palenques” to learn about Maleku traditions, exploring the forest to discover medicinal plants, participating in cultural activities like archery and crafting, and enjoying a traditional Costa Rican lunch with Maleku twists.
Before embarking on this adventure, note that the tour lasts for approximately 6 hours and is suitable for all ages. It is a small group experience, and lunch is included in the package.
The day begins with an early morning transfer from La Fortuna, taking you through the scenic northern plains to Tonjibe, the first town within the Maleku Reserve. Explore the village, interact with tribe members, and learn about their unique way of life. Discover the significance of ancient burial practices, traditional structures, and craftsmanship. Walk through the forest to uncover the secrets of medicinal plants and try your hand at archery and crafting activities. The tour starts daily at 8:00 am and includes round-trip transportation, a guide, entrance fees, bottled water, and lunch.
