Flørli Hike & Lysefjord Cruise
Your adventure to the charming village of Flørli commences with a transfer to Høgsfjord, where a passenger ferry awaits to take you on a scenic journey into Lysefjord. As you sail through the fjord, towering mountain walls will surround you, showcasing breathtaking waterfalls, abandoned farms, and the iconic Preikestolen, also known as Pulpit Rock, standing proudly at nearly 2,000 feet above sea level.
Flørli, situated in the heart of Lysefjord, has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Once a hub for a hydroelectric power plant, this small village has now become a popular tourist destination. Upon arrival in Flørli, prepare yourself for a challenging hike up the 4,444 wooden steps that wind along the mountainside parallel to old water pipes. This staircase, reaching almost 2,500 feet, holds the title of the world’s longest wooden staircase. The panoramic views of Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains from the top are truly awe-inspiring. For the descent, follow a forest trail back to Flørli village.
Before heading back, take a break at Flørli 4,444 Power Café housed inside the historic 1916 hydropower hall. If time permits, explore the exhibition in the control room to delve deeper into the area’s fascinating history. Conclude your journey by returning to Stavanger on a high-speed ferry through the fjord.
