Treasure Hunt at the Louvre
The Louvre in Paris is not just a tourist attraction, but a palace with 35,000 pieces of art that is definitely worth a visit. Former director Henri Loyrette once said that 80% of visitors only see the Mona Lisa and then leave, which he considered a crime. Now, you have the opportunity to solve this by embarking on a treasure hunt within the museum!
The adventure involves taking photos of your team in front of as many artworks as possible within a set time frame of 90 minutes to two hours. You will also have bonus challenges in your treasure text, adding an element of fun and interactivity to the experience. As a Louvre treasure hunter, your mission is to inject some excitement, engagement, and learning into your museum visit.
There are various treasure hunt themes to choose from, but “Beauty & the Bestiary” is particularly popular among first-time visitors of all ages. This theme incorporates mythical creatures like unicorns, griffins, and dragons, as well as iconic pieces like the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. You will also explore lesser-known areas such as the Islamic Collection and the Near Eastern quarter.
Your adventure begins outside the museum at Bernini’s statue of Louis XIV, where you will meet your guide. After a brief history lesson on the Louvre’s three wings and palace, you will enter the lobby beneath IM Pei’s famous pyramid. Equipped with maps and clipboards, you will set off on your treasure hunt, culminating in a score tally and prize-giving ceremony.
