Embark on a fascinating tour of Beaujolais, an enchanting historical province and renowned wine-growing region situated just north of Lyon. Beaujolais is celebrated for its exquisite French wines, particularly the Gamay grape variety used in crafting the region’s certified French Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée wines. The Gamay grape is distinguished by its delicate skin and low tannins, resulting in a light-bodied red wine. Wine connoisseurs often liken premium Beaujolais to Old World Pinot Noir, noting earthy, musky, and smoky undertones. Those less familiar with wine will delight in the array of berry flavors present, such as red cherry, cranberry, raspberry, and red currant.
Renowned for its resemblance to Tuscany, the picturesque countryside of Beaujolais is adorned with charming hilltop villages, exuding a tranquil way of life. Your cultural and gastronomic journey will guide you through the southern region of Beaujolais, famous for its striking Beaujolais Nouveau architecture and golden stone buildings that impart a unique allure to the local villages.
Accompanied by a seasoned guide, you’ll immerse yourself in the region’s rich heritage during this rural escapade. Additionally, you’ll receive an introduction to the art of winemaking and have the opportunity to partake in a delightful wine tasting session led by a passionate winemaker.
