What you’ll do
Next, head toward the Cathedral and stop at a grocery store established in 1850, one of the oldest in the country. The owner, Rafa, will treat you to history as you nibble on nuts and dried fruits. Learn about the region’s famous hams at another family-run store, including Jamón Serrano and Iberian Bellota.
Though the shops are genuinely fascinating and great for learning about the local gastronomy, it’s time to head into some hidden restaurants in the city. Here you’ll try traditional tapas that pay homage to classic recipes while also taking on a modern twist. But to truly be a tapear, you’ll need to go to more than one restaurant! Visit another tavern frequented by the locals and known for hearty tapas and homemade vermouth.
You’ll end the tour with a few traditional dishes, including remojón granadino and homemade pionono. This is an excellent opportunity to truly explore the gastronomical culture of Granada, taste the region’s delicious goods, and visit eateries unknown to the typical traveler. If you book the experience during the day, you’ll enjoy a complete lunch and a full dinner for those exploring in the evening.
