Known for its 46 villages, the Pindos Mountains, roaring rivers, and deep gorges, Zagori is a region that attracts many nature and history enthusiasts.
Referred to as Zagorochoria, the villages in the Zagori region boast stone buildings and bridges constructed using a unique technique mastered only by masons in the Epirus area. Your expert guide will lead you along the old footpaths connecting the hamlets, which served as the primary means of transportation before roads were established.
Commencing in the town of Kipi, renowned for its impressive stone bridges dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, you’ll explore the village of Koukouli and visit the Lazaridis Museum to see a vast collection of rare flora from Vikos Gorge. On your way back to Kipi, take the old stone path of Koukouli, also known as “Koukouli Steps,” and consider a visit to the 16th-century Monastery of Pagia Spiliotissa for more exploration, offering breathtaking views overlooking the Voidomatis River.
This hike is suitable for children aged 8 and above, with an easy difficulty level and a requirement of basic physical condition.
