With a maximum group size of nine participants, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the incredible biodiversity of this region up close. Keep your eyes peeled for elusive nocturnal creatures like tarantulas, glowing mushrooms, tree frogs, and nesting birds while immersing yourself in the peaceful sounds and scents of the forest. This adventure is perfect for nature lovers and those interested in the ecological importance of this unique reserve.

Highlights of this experience include hiking through the cloud forest after dark with a knowledgeable guide, exploring the “green lung of Costa Rica” with a flashlight in hand, spotting nocturnal wildlife such as nesting birds, amphibians, and insects, and learning about the rare biodiversity and conservation efforts within the reserve.

Before embarking on this nighttime adventure, be aware that the duration of the experience is approximately 2.5 hours and is recommended for all ages. The group size is limited to nine people to ensure a more intimate and personalized experience.

During the night hike, your naturalist guide will lead you along a 1-mile trail, pointing out various nocturnal creatures and bird species while showcasing the unique flora of the cloud forest. As you traverse the forest in darkness, your senses will be heightened, allowing you to fully appreciate the sights, sounds, and smells of the nocturnal world.

After the hike, you will be transported back to your hotel in Monteverde, where you can reflect on your memorable nighttime adventure.

Start times for this experience are daily at 5:30 pm, providing the perfect opportunity to witness the transition from day to night in the cloud forest.

Included in this experience are transportation to and from the reserve, entrance fees, a knowledgeable guide, and a flashlight to guide you through the darkness of the forest.
