Kids Saving the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary
Tour a non-profit organization’s wildlife sanctuary, interact with animals, and learn about their rehabilitation
Tour the Kids Saving the Rainforest, a non-profit organization located in Quepos. This sanctuary rescues over 100 animals annually, aiming to rehabilitate and release them back into the wild. During an educational walk through the wildlife center, you’ll gain valuable insights into engaging with these species responsibly. The rehabilitation program includes sloths (both two and three-toed), marmosets, great macaws, toucans, and all four monkey species found in Costa Rica.
Highlights of the tour include a guided visit to a non-profit animal sanctuary, interactions with sloths, toucans, and monkeys, and learning about responsible human-wildlife interaction.
Before you go, note that the tour lasts 2 hours and is recommended for ages 3 and up. It is conducted in small groups, and a snack is included.
You’ll depart from Manuel Antonio in the morning and transfer to Kids Saving the Rainforest. The tour of the wildlife sanctuary, led by your guide, will educate you about animal rescue and conservation. You’ll hear about the organization’s recent projects, such as installing wildlife bridges, reforestation, and the rescue and rehabilitation of displaced animals through their wildlife hospital.
As you meet some of the center’s temporary animal residents, you’ll learn about the dangers of human-wildlife interaction and the harms of the pet trade. You’ll also meet full-time residents who cannot be released back into the wild due to various physical disabilities or unnatural behavior after being kept as illegal pets.
Start times for the tour are daily at 9:00 am and 11:00 am, except on Mondays when it is not available.
The tour includes transportation, admission, and a bilingual guide.
