The adventure begins with a short transfer from your hotel in La Fortuna, where you’ll meet your naturalist guide and start the easy hike through the lush tropical forest. You’ll explore 50 acres (20 ha) of land where the famous cecropia trees grow, a favored location for both two-toed and three-toed sloths, who love to hang out on these trees and munch on their bright green leaves. The “sloth trail” spans just 1.2 miles (2 km) and is perfect for the entire family, allowing everyone to explore at a leisurely pace.

As you wander through the dense vegetation, keep your eyes peeled; sloths often blend seamlessly into the canopy. Thanks to your guide’s skill, they’ll point out several of these slow-moving creatures, as well as share insights into their behavior and habits.
