Whether you’re a first-timer or simply looking to improve your skills, a private surf lesson at Playa Tamarindo offers the perfect opportunity to learn in one of Costa Rica’s top surfing destinations. With hands-on instruction from experienced local guides, you’ll feel confident hitting the waves. During this two-hour session, you’ll practice balance, paddling, and popping up on your board. Most beginners are able to ride their first wave before the lesson ends. Afterward, enjoy some free time to either continue surfing or relax on the beautiful shores of Tamarindo. This laid-back beach town offers the ideal blend of fun and tranquility.

Meet your surf instructor at Playa Tamarindo to begin your personalized lesson. You’ll start with a brief orientation on the sand to go over ocean safety, surfing posture, and the steps to standing up on your board. Once you’ve practiced your stance, it’s time to head into the waves with your board.

With one-on-one instruction, you’ll get plenty of feedback and encouragement. Most participants are able to stand and ride a wave before the session concludes. Afterward, you’re welcome to keep practicing using a rental board or relax and soak in the tropical beauty of Tamarindo.
