Guerrouane Region Winery Tour near Fes
Overview
Winemaking in Morocco has ancient roots dating back to Roman times. Over the centuries, local Jewish communities contributed to grape cultivation, and later, French colonists expanded the wine industry. Today, producers in the region specialize in red blends, Rosé, Vin Gris, and Mahia—a local brandy meaning “water of life.”
The Guerrouane region, thanks to its ideal combination of soil, sunshine, and rainfall, also produces bountiful orchards yielding apricots, oranges, plums, and other fruits. It is also home to the only Moroccan wine with AOC status—Coteaux de l’Atlas 1er Cru. After learning about the cultivation and wine production process, enjoy sampling various styles during a peaceful afternoon among the vineyards.
